Alfa Romeo and Moto Guzzi celebrated at the Milano Auto Classica fair

The occasion arose from the cool union of two anniversaries: the seventy years of the Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint and the centenary of Moto Guzzi

In the heart of Milano AutoClassica, the ACI-Automobile Club of Italy highlighted, from 1 to 3 October, the motoring spirit of Italy with a simple exhibition, made up of only four but iconic and tremendously fascinating examples. Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Alfa Romeo Registry, a high-performance 1957 blue ocean-green Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint (built in only 706 units) and a rare 1952 amaranth Alfa Romeo 1900 L Cabriolet Victoria were exhibited, whose production actually stopped at a few decimal places: 48 cars! The Alfa Romeo 1900 is the daughter of an era – the Fifties – which gave large space to that “desire for fresh air” which, on the thrust undertaken by the great renewal of the Dolce Vita, had relaunched the Casa del Portello in harmony with what was happening in the country, with its recovering economy, its flourishing cinema industry and its international glamorous resonance. The same winning image that has contributed to bringing Moto Guzzi around the world, which for several months has been in the spotlight for the many events, official and unofficial, related to its centenary. At Milano AutoClassica, in the exhibition spaces of the Automobile Club of Milan, this Italian national glory was represented by a 1956 Airone Sport 250 and a 1930 Sport 14 500.

From the Moto Guzzi Ercole and Saturno chosen by Federico Fellini to the Spider ‘Duetto’ of Dustin Hoffman, going through the love of Pier Paolo Pasolini for his Alfa Gt 2000 and the many detective roles of which the Arese brand was the undisputed protagonist, Moto Guzzi and Alfa Romeo have crossed the last century between ups and downs, experiencing the hard years of the war and the economic boom, the oil crisis of the Seventies and the birth of the status symbols of the end of the millennium, up to today’s new and unexpected world crises. Always faithful to their values, beyond time and fashions, the two brands have produced masterpieces that remind us of what we were and what we still are, overlooking that world that is now at the crossroads of yet another epochal transition: the challenge of ‘electric. The two legendary brands and their enthusiasts are there, they will always be there. As evidence of a country that knows how to excite and wants to transmit passion.
