And the winner is… Classic Eleganza Stresa 2021
The Classic Eleganza Stresa, the concours d’elegance that takes place every year on the shores of Lake Maggiore, was won this year by a wonderful 1939 Bentley 4 1/4 Liter. The car is an “Overdrive” model whose penultimate owner was the Bavarian engineer Bern Pischetsrieder, former BMW’s CEO and former chairman of the management board of the Volkswagen group. The Bentley is one of two examples built with a “Sedanca Coupé” type bodywork on a 4 1/4 chassis, of which only 200 units were built between the years 1938 and 1939. Together with a 1927 Rolls Royce Twenty, it represented the pre-war section of the contest, which was staged as always in the garden of the stunning Regina Palace Hotel in Stresa. From 9 to 10 October the contest put about 40 vintage cars up to the Nineties in the spotlight, including a series of American sports cars, mostly Chevrolet branded.
