Auto Moto d’Epoca 2021 – Padua Fair
Auto Moto d’Epoca is a fair that makes the world move. The whole universe of historic motors: dealers, museums, institutions, clubs, restoration and collector services professionals, specialized publishing. From Italy and abroad. Every year the famous fair of vintage cars in Padua is an opportunity to do business, to make business contacts, to look for the next four-wheeled wonder to take home, to meet friends and stay informed about news and trends of the sector.
This year, then, perhaps also due to the forced abstinence of last year – when the Covid alert held back enthusiasm – the fair was back as we know it (October 21-24), with its exhibitions, its 11 pavilions, its cars and motorcycles for sale (5.000!) for all budgets and the thousands of visitors interested in the vehicles to buy, the spare parts to look for, the rare item of automobilia to treat oneself. Or simply to delight in the sight of many beautiful cars of the past. Some of them were also unique pieces of supreme historical importance, see the exhibition on pole of the National Automobile Museum in Turin with its racing cars such as a 1928 Maserati 26B, a 1930 Alfa Romeo P2, a 1952 Ferrari 500 F2, a 1955 Lancia D50 and a 1961 Ferrari 156 F1 “Shark-Nose”. Among them, the spectacular Fiat 130 HP which won the Grand Prix in Dieppe in 1907 was set in motion in two daily demos near the main entrance of the fair to the delight of the public. But there were actually many surprises of this 38th edition. Often with a “Sold” sign on the windshield.
Few pre-war periods, on the other hand, from the 70s onwards there was a great choice. And there was no lack of Restomods, including electric ones. And then talk shows, seminars, conferences. In the spaces of the ACI and the ASI, which this year brought on display part of their “family jewels”, namely the splendid Bertone Collection with prototypes of some of the most beautiful masterpieces in the history of the automobile. So Padua has once again confirmed itself as the number one market for vintage cars in Italy, the land of toys for every lover of historic engines. Impossible to skip even one shift, you have to be there. Always.
