A Midsummer Afternoon’s Dream in Florence
Auto da Sogno (“Dream Cars”) is a concours d’elegance which has been organized in 15 days only in order to save from abandon a beautiful park area in Florence, in the former Hyppodrome Le Mulina. So, in a Friday Summer afternoon, the idea of the Camet-Club Auto e Moto d’Epoca Toscano came to life with about 20 great historic cars on display on a circle, a handful of judges and a crowd of enthusiasts attracted by the “motors panorama”. In a word, it was a success. Even more members than how expected took part in the event from the Club, bringing their beautiful d’antan ladies to make people admire them out of competition. It all ended up in the late evening, with the consignments of prizes after dinner. The Best in Show was a superb Lancia Aurelia B52, while the three classes winners (Prewar, Sport and Classic) were a very rare and well conserved 1930 Bianchi S5, a Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 and a BMW 327 Competizione. All very significative example which have been elected “emotionally”, without judging details, history, palmares, ecc. but simply on the base of tastes and the sensations of the jury. This pecualiarity made the concours particularly nice to the public and helped people get closer to motor culture.
