Great success for the Coppa della Perugina 2022

Beautiful cars, places and roads, a large group of pre-war vehicles, exclusive locations, details of extraordinary elegance… it was an edition with the plus sign, the Coppa della Perugina 2022 (from 20 to 22 May). A sequence of beautiful surprises from start to finish, with the highlight being the fashion show in Corso Vannucci in Perugia, which unlike the other years included only a few meters of barriers in Piazza IV Novembre and, on the other hand, a richer scenographic set-up. The direction of movement of the parade in the heart of the city was also reversed compared to the past and much more effective, with the cars slowly flowing free as they entered the main street, amazed and admired by the crowd on Saturday afternoon and the many tourists. It was a real party. The curiosity and joy of suddenly seeing such fascinating cars were palpable, many asked for information, approached to get to know them and to photograph them.

Then, on Saturday, unique pearls such as Assisi, with the guided tour of the two Basilicas, Spello, Trevi, the center of Foligno, where skill tests took place, Campello sul Clitunno – with lunch in a wonderful countryside property – and Montefalco and Bevagna again made the weekend unforgettable. Also thanks to panoramic views among cypresses, hills, poppy meadows and wheat fields crossed by roads that are not described as enchanting. The gala dinner at the Army’s Foreign Languages School in Perugia was also very impressive, as well as the Sala dei Notari chosen for the awards ceremony before Sunday lunch and the conclusion of the event in the cloister of the Cathedral. All locations, especially the latter, which have always been reserved for great occasions in the city.

Many prizes were awarded to cars of particular value, which this year were truly of great historical importance, also received in several cases from abroad. From the 3.5 Liter Bentley arrived from London with two young Englishmen who chose Umbria as their residence at the Cisitalia Berlinetta 202 via an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Cabriolet, two Dino 246s, one of which GTS, a Ferrari 330 GTC, a splendid Aurelia B24 Convertibile, a newly restored racing Itala, several Lancia Lambdas and many other timeless beauties that have written the history of the automobile. The weather was also at the top, all three days enjoyed a shining sun that wanted to contribute, too, to the success of the event. A success that, it must be said, without the super efficiency of the organizational machine of the Camep-Club Auto Moto d’Epoca Perugino could not have even been touched.
