Vernasca Silver Flag 2022, the victory to the Alfa Romeo TZ2 of Simon Kidston
The seventh event in the ASI Circuito Tricolore calendar, the Silver Flag 2022 – organized from 10 to 12 June by the Club Piacentino Automotoveicoli d’Epoca – has reconfirmed itself in its 26th edition as an international point of reference among dynamic conservation and restoration competitions for historic racing cars.
At the end of the three parades on the original route of the uphill race Castell’Arquato-Lugagnano-Vernasca, which took place for 17 editions from 1953 to 1972, the most representative cars examined by the technical jury during the stops in the paddock set up on the embankment of Castell’Arquato, a city of art immersed in the Val d’Arda of Piacenza (Italy).
The fabulous 1966 Alfa Romeo TZ2 brought by the Englishman Simon Kidston was elected Best of Show of the competition, while the prestigious ASI Trophies for the best preserved and best restored car were awarded respectively to the 1952 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT of Paolo Saporetti and at the 1957 OSCA 187 S conducted by Franco Adamoli.
The FIVA (International Federation of Historic Vehicles) Special Award went to the 1968 Lola T142 / 20 F5000, brought to the Vernasca Silver Flag by the German enthusisast Ehrbar Rober.
